Community and town councils are the grassroots level of local governance in Wales.
There are over 730 community and town councils throughout Wales. Llangynfelyn is one of the smallest, with a population (in 2011) of only 587. They all work to improve the quality of life and environment for citizens in their area. Community councils are accountable to local people and have a duty to represent the interests of the different parts of the community equally. Councillors: Community councillors are elected every four years. The next election will be in 2021. Responsibilities: community councils have responsibility for (or are permitted to act regarding) a wide range of local services and functions. Finance: the activities of community councils are funded through the Council Tax. Each community council decides how much to charge to cover its expenditure. |

Mae dros 730 o gynghorau cymuned a thref ledled Cymru. Mae Llangynfelyn yn un o'r lleiaf, gyda phoblogaeth (yn 2011) o ddim ond 587. Maent i gyd yn gweithio i wella ansawdd bywyd a'r amgylchedd i ddinasyddion yn eu hardal. Mae cynghorau cymuned yn atebol i bobl leol ac mae ganddynt ddyletswydd i gynrychioli buddiannau gwahanol rannau o'r gymuned yn gyfartal. Cynghorwyr: Cynghorwyr Cymunedol yn cael eu hethol bob pedair blynedd. Bydd yr etholiad nesaf yn 2016. Cyfrifoldebau: Mae Gynghorau Cymuned yn gyfrifol am (neu'n cael caniatâd i weithredu ynglŷn â) nifer fawr o wasanaethau a swyddogaethau lleol. Cyllid: Mae gweithgareddau cynghorau cymuned yn cael eu hariannu drwy Dreth y Cyngor. Mae pob cyngor cymuned yn penderfynu faint i'w godi i dalu am ei wariant. |
